The Olympics are coming to town!

I don't know about anyone else but I've simply not had the time nor the inclination to write anything for the past couple of weeks and get the feeling from other bloggers that they also feel the same.  I think the holiday season as well as the lovely weather we are now enjoying plus, of course the Olympics (which I for one have been glued to), have given us a reason to take stock and slow down a bit.

Speaking of the Olympics, they are coming to our neck of the woods this weekend to Hadleigh Farm where they will be holding the Mountain Biking events. You might remember I wrote about Hadleigh Farm back in April.  It seems that the whole area is going to come to a standstill for two days, but even so the tension and excitement is mounting. Many cyclists have been spotted, cruising around town, doing a bit of sight-seeing and making themselves known to their awaiting audience.

There are flags and bunting everywhere and a general sense of camaraderie amongst locals and visitors alike.

Hadleigh has been getting ready for some time now and it's all looking
very patriotic and welcoming for the contestants.

This sculpture has been put in the middle of our local large roundabout as you enter the area which has been planted with some beautiful plants and flowers

This is the nearest we could get to the grounds as, like Stratford, security is paramount.

Looking forward to the Closing Ceremony on Sunday - if it's anything like the Opening Ceremony then we're in for a treat. Happy viewing and have a fabulous weekend.

See you soon
Patricia

    1. Thankyou so much for your comment Val. I really envy your outdoor living. We have to make the most of our fine weather here and hence tne lack of posts. Hope you enjoy the Closing Ceremony as I know I shall.

    1. We have done well haven't we. Sadly we were unable to get tickets for our own local event, the luck of the draw unfortunately. We did manage to get some tickets for the Paralympics though and very much looking forward to it x

  5. How fun that part of the games were on your doorstep. Did you go watch? I was thinking of you and wondering how your operation went?

  6. Hi Patricia, those white tents look like a scene from a movie. I expect to see a knight on horseback and banners flying in the breeze. It's a lovely sight.
In regard to the comment you left on my blog:
I make my stencils on my Provo Craft Cricut. They can be very expensive, but mine is the first model and you can find them pretty cheap, just ask around. You may even have a friend that up dated to a newer model and has an old model stashed in the back of their closet, or even ask on Craig's list. Do you have Craig's List? As long as you have one good alphabet cartridge you can make stencils that say anything you want and with letters from 1 inch to 5 1/2 inches tall. That's what mine does, but like I said it is the oldest model, the newer one do even more. They even have a model made just for cutting fondant frosting. You name it, they make it, these days. Good luck finding a cheap deal. If it's used , try it out before buying. Have a great week, Connie :)
