Messing about on the river

We're back from our few days on The Norfolk Broads. Although the days were much shorter than a summer stay, the weather couldn't have been better and we enjoyed some lovely cruising and yummy lunches at the many riverside pubs on offer along the way. My daughter E and the gang were on their hired boat for the week and us landlubbers joined them for a few days.

Their mooring alongside our hotel in Wroxham was perfect

Before we arrived however, I was told that this cheeky little chappie - grandson L had fallen overboard whilst they were moored up! Fortunately they weren't cruising along at the time. They managed to hook him up pretty darn quickly, and thank goodness he had his life jacket on! He didn't seem too phased about it and survived the ordeal. Me on the other hand - well my heart was in my mouth from the time we arrived I can tell you!

Some of these riverside cottages were absolutely divine and they all had
places for mooring their boats
And some had their own resident Herons - they were everywhere
Eldest grandson H was more than content just idly fishing, whether
from the back of the boat or at one of our lunch stops.
He was more than pleased with this little catch

The swans didn't go hungry either

The end of a day on our lovely Autumn break
See you soon

  5. What a fright Patricia about your grandson falling overboard, I bet he sees it as his great adventure on this trip though.

That sounds and looks like a great place to visit, those houses seem to be right on the water which makes me thing of floods, I wonder how safe they are.

  6. How lovely! You brought back memories of a family holiday (many years ago) on the Norfolk Broads, the many herons on the banks and the anxiety about mooring the boat! Glad your grandson was safely back on board so quickly:)

  7. Hello Patricia:
How very fortunate you were to enjoy such good weather for your few days away. And, what fun you all sound to have had messing about on the river. It seemed like the perfect way to relax, floating along just stopping for a delicious meal every now and then. Now, what could be more perfect?!!!

  9. Hello Patricia, returning the compliment! Thanks for popping by my blog. In fact you were almost close enough to pop by and drop in for a cuppa! In all the years we've lived in Norfolk we have never actually been ON the Broads, though we have been TO the Broads, looks like you had a great time. Look forward to 'meeting' you again! Lx

  10. Hello Patricia! I too have been out of blogland for a while. I posted on my blogs but had very little computer time so unable to keep up with others. And boy did I miss your big news...a new grandchild...CONGRATULATIONS! The pram blanket is just beautiful. I am so addicted to crocheting...you?

The little break looks like it was wonderful made even better spent with family.

  12. It looks as if you had a good break on the Broads. It's an area I would like to visit as our Yorkshire grandchildren have been on holiday there and enjoyed it very much and it's not too far from that county where we live now. Hope the studying is going well!
