Woody Sunday walk

As Sunday was such a gorgeous sunny day we took the opportunity of taking a walk in our local woods whilst the Sunday roast was in the oven. The jobs could wait, the weather wouldn't.

I love this time of year when the leaves are changing colour and the sun throws
a dappled light through the almost bare branches.

Then there's that damp woody smell of down-trodden leaves which is so
synonymous with the Autumn.
So peaceful and not a breath of  wind -
just the sound of the woodpeckers and the foraging squirrels
and perhaps a distant cuckoo?

As well as the gentle clippety clop of these chappies out for
their morning exercise

Got to make the most of these lovely days before winter hits us
and the days get even shorter

Tempting though it was to walk further, it was the call of our lunch that took us home.
(and oh it did smell good when we walked in)
Bye for now

  1. That sounds like a lovely, relaxed morning! I bet dinner tasted delicious too! Jx

  2. That walk certainly prepared you for your appetite on your return..
The area there looks so beautiful
The ground looks like a carpet of colours.
very relaxing , nice photos Patricia.

  3. These photos are beautiful. How nice to have a woods so close to your home that you can take a walk while roasting your dinner. When I was a kid in Northern Indiana, we lived next to a woods . . . it was my playground. I love the sounds, sights and smells of the forest. Thank you for sharing your day with us :)

  4. Grey skies here today, Patricia. I'm glad we were able to appreciate last week's sunny, Autumn days with some lovely walks just like you. Lovely photos! We are blessed to have such beautiful places to walk in.

  5. What a super walk, just the thing to work up an appetite for Sunday lunch. It was a lovely day here too:)

  6. Hi Patricia,

That looks like a lovely wood to go for a walk, especially at this time of the year with all those amazing colours. It's very grey and wet here today. Hope you have a great week.

  7. Looks like such a lovely walk, what was waiting at home for lunch?

  8. A lovely sunny day to enjoy a peaceful walk through those beautiful woods. Those trees still look so colourful. The rain and wind we have had the last 2 days seems to have bought most of the remaining leaves down.
