A Yuletide message - peace on earth

Yuletide greetings to you all - don't you love this old card?  I'd forgotten that this was among my collection of old postcards which was sent to a lady in Lincolnshire in 1912. The postage stamp with King George V's head cost one halfpenny - a tad different from today which I believe now costs about 48p for a second class stamp. Anyway I thought I'd share it with you.

We had a very sharp frost last night and together with the freezing fog this morning created some very stunning pictures. After returning from the school run, I grabbed my camera and went over to our local common to capture the following photos:

This really is Peace on Earth

When I came home I found these in my back garden

Aren't they gorgeous?

It's still pretty cold out but oh so pretty - the sun is shining too and everything is glistening.

Hope you're all having a great week - keep warm and enjoy!

  6. I am so totally in awe of your frosted images Patricia! Wow! As a lover of photography I am thrilled to see such a event captured so beautifully!
Your post is so lovely, the post card is beautiful. And, the title "Peace on Earth" is the same name as the domino book I just made for my giveaway. Even your frosty images remind me of the little book.
I am hoping it is not too cold for you there. Here where I live in North Carolina, we are still warm...I am hoping for a cold snap before Christmas. But as it has been 70 degrees lately...
    Hugs,
    Terri

  9. Gorgeous frosty photos! At least in this weather I can see where the spider's webs are and avoid them as I go out to feed the birds I must admit they do look very pretty! I love old postcards and have quite a collection of them, some relating to my family history. I love it when there are stamps and messages on the back too:)

  15. Those are amazing photographs, and the post card is gorgeous... where did you find that? or has it been in your family for years? and 1/2 a penny for a stamp? That's almost free in today's terms!

  18. I have been collecting postcards since I was a wee child – I have many vintage ones and love looking at them. Yours is very pretty. Your pictures also are stunning – looking at them made me cold! Here in Georgia we did not have any frost to speak of last winter, not enough to photograph – maybe we will be luckier this winter.
