Random acts of kindness...

Aren't these a breath of fresh air

I've never seen tulips so early in the year before. They were given to me by a very kind lady who I've never met, who took my place on a pre Christmas lunch  that I could not attend due to a funeral. She belongs to our local church and a mutual friend from our Home Study Group asked if she wanted to go. I love acts of kindness and remember seeing this quote.

"I expect to pass through life but once.
If therefore, there be any kindness I can show,
or any good thing I can do to any fellow being,
let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it,
as I shall not pass this way again"

William Penn (1644-1718)

On a similar note I must just show you these lovely old Dutch bobbin-lace bobbins that were very kindly sent to me by  Heidi from Holland. who knew I was starting a small collection and posted them off to me..

Such a kind thought and a lovely addition to my collection which you might remember seeing in my post here

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted

See you soon

  7. I am so pleased the bobbins arrived safely and you like them Patricia. Did you know that the tulip season begins with Christmas here in Holland? They are a traditional bouquet during the holiday season.

I love RAKs so much that as you saw on my handwork blog...I am going to do them regularly this year. I think it will have a major effect on my own thoughts over the year as I am thinking of others each month and how I can surprise them.

    Hugs from Holland ~

  10. As I grow older I believe more and more that kindness is one of the great virtues, Patricia. My mother used to quote a version of the William Penn saying to my sisters and me and I've never forgotten it. Enjoy your kind gifts.

  11. Hello Beautiful! How are you?
Aren't those tulips gorgeous? I should buy more fresh flowers, or plants that flower and keep them in the house... When you look at flowers it just gives you a feeling of life and freshness... of newness... don't you think? Did you change the photos on your blog? I don't remember those at the top, they are absolutely lovely!
I hope you have a wonderful week!

  12. What a lovely post- the flowers are lovely and the verse is one to remember.
The Dalai Lama has many quotations on kindness – here are two I like: “Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.”
And “This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.” - Dalai Lama.

  13. Those tulips are so pretty - they help remind me that all of our snow will melt and spring will get here eventually. Kindness is so important to me that when my oldest daughter started seeing someone several years ago (they are now married) the only question I had for her was, "Is he kind?"
