Is this Spring?

Oh joy of joys I actually hung my washing on the line today - and it dried perfectly. Is this the sign of Spring we're all waiting for?  Also the string of solar fairy lights that are hanging on our fence all year round - suddenly lit up last night when it got dark - proof in itself that the sun really had been shining and re-energised them!

All of a sudden flowers are springing up everywhere

This was in Hyde Park on Sunday - we were visiting the V&A museum - aren't they gorgeous?

I must just show you this lovely book that I treated myself to a couple
of weeks ago - I love it.

I'd seen it in the Homemaker magazine back in January which featured this Camellia blanket - and I just had to have it

I so enjoyed making the pram blanket last year for my new granddaughter that I thought I'd have another go. So - off I went this afternoon to buy this gorgeous yarn

I have a feeling I'm in 'Essay avoidance' mode again - but my evenings are for relaxing so tonight I'll make a start. Don't hold your breath though - it could be months before you actually see the finished article but I'll certainly have fun making it.

What do you do for relaxation in the evenings?

Welcome to my new followers Bella, Kathy, Patricia, Amanda, The Tasmanian Minimalist and She wouldn't believe it.

  3. I think you must live in a different world, Patricia, but thanks for giving me a lovely glimpse of it. :-) No beds of spring flowers over here and our forecast for the next couple of days is atrocious.

My sister and daughter love to crochet, but I'm a knitter through and through and spend my evenings in front of the TV with my knitting. I look forward to seeing the blanket one fine day. :-)

  4. Nope, no sign of Spring here, it's freezing and snow forecast for the next few days!!!! Those flowers look very pretty in London! I started a crochet blanket a few weeks ago, but progress has ground to a halt this last week.
    Good luck with yours.

  6. Gorgeous flowers in the park! I dried washing outside on Monday but today it is freezing cold weather with the tv weather forcasts predicting snow for our region and beyond - again. It looks like you have spring for the moment, I hope it comes our way soon:)

  8. I love hanging my clothes on the line, and you are right, it is definitely a sign of spring when you can do so and have them get dry. Nice colours you have picked for blanket #2!

  9. Ah, essay avoidance - I was an expert! My house would be spotless, then I would decide to cook - anything not to make a start. Of course, once the essay began everything else was neglected... The spring flowers are beautiful, and lucky you going to the V&A. We have an exhibition of quilts coming from V&A to Qld Art Gallery, very soon. Can't wait to see that. Look forward to seeing your beautiful crotchet. P.

  10. Beautiful Spring flowers. Ours are covered in snow again and hardly (out in the garden). The crocheting sounds like a good way of relaxing in an evening right now!

  11. Oho! I'm with you on the essay avoidance - I have been known to attack a pile of ironing rather than face a page of referencing!

My spring flowers are out and we aren't too bad here in West Norfolk, but my husband is up in Nortumberland for 3 days and says the roads back down are looking a bit grim!

    Your crochet looks lovely!

  13. No spring here yet. It is very cold with a biting east wind! But more the reason to sit indoors and crochet or stitch or quilt. I have that book too and plan to do a project from it this year.

    Hugs from Holland ~

  14. Patricia, lovely photos from Hyde Park! How I'd like to go for a walk there. I remember this park with swans and other birds in the ponds. Pretty daffodils and snowdrops.
    Have a nice weekend!

  15. I feel sorry for the spring flowers near us as they are now covered in snow! Spring seems to have disappeared! Xxx

  17. Beautiful flowers- I love spring flowers- they are so colourful. We don't have seasons - so even though its hot all year it's nice to see pictures of spring:)

  19. Your flowers are lovely. Our trees in town are covered with blooms but today it turned very cold – I hope they won’t freeze. I need to get started on a baby blanket. I made several for my three little grandsons but my daughter is expecting a baby girl so it’s time to get back to the knitting needles or the crochet. Did you make this lovely blanket with the flowers? It looks complicated - mine are usually quite plain.

  20. All our flowers are either under snow or frozen stiff! Bitter weather here.

I love your photos of wool and your crochet - wish I had the creative bug and the feeling in my fingers to do it!
