Long time no see...

....but I'm back now and have missed my blogging friends and reading your lovely posts. Thank you for all your comments recently and sorry I haven't responded before now.

We've had several busy weeks one way or another, some of which were  spent travelling  between Essex, Cornwall and Norfolk where I've had neither computer nor internet so many apologies that I haven't been able to view or comment on your posts of late.  Am trying to catch up but inevitably will have missed some of your news. I find it difficult to catch up with just a few days worth of posts let alone a couple of weeks but bear with me.

We spent a lovely time with our son J and his family down in the Cornish town of St Ives in the West Country, where they own a little terraced fishermen's cottage dating back to the late 1800s which is situated close to all of the fabulous beaches that surround St Ives.

Superb weather and it was great to spend some fun time with the children on the beach.

The days on the beaches were sunny and fun-filled

The evenings were stunning and tranquil
where the wonderful whiff of a barbecue could often be found

All too soon it was time to head for home where we did a quick turnaround before we ventured east in our camper van to the Norfolk Broads where our daughter E and her family had hired a boat for the week. We booked in at a little site at Ludham which was bang next to their mooring for the time we were there. In fact you can see their boat from our pitch.

A lovely site with spectacular views and open fields all around

We spent three days with them relaxing on board when they took us out on several day-long trips on the river including Horning and Wroxham

The boys really enjoyed their holiday and spent a lot of the time
fishing when moored up for the night.

So relaxing and lunch could always be found at one of the many riverside pubs you could moor up beside.

or even a little bit of what you fancy from the ice cream boat along the way!

All in all we had a wonderful time with both our children and their families - albeit in separate locations but to be treasured always.

Be back again soon. Have a great week

I LOVE the idea of an "ice cream boat"!!

We are off to our new caravan next week - if I have recovered from Towersey Festival! Lx

  4. It sounds like you are making good use of your new toy with all this travelling - how lucky you were to have such good weather - I haven't been to Cornwall for a few years and never to St. Ives - glad you enjoyed your time with your family. Back to normality now and all that washing!

  8. Welcome back from what looks like a fun-filled holiday, in two great locations! St Ives looks very sea-side attractive, warm and picturesque. And then on to Norfolk, with an ice-cream boat and riverside pubs! What's not to love? Glad you and the children had a wonderful time.

  17. Sounds like you have had a lovely holiday break. Photos of St.Ives brought back memories of my visit there. The photos are great, especially like those evening ones on the beach. I've always thought I would like to visit Norfolk, but didn't get there. So many lovely places in Britain still to visit. Wishful thinking! Hope the weather is still warm. It's been a great summer there, from what I have read on blogs etc.
    Happy days,
    Betty

  18. I'm glad you have had such wonderful holidays! Cornwall looks so beautiful. I really wanted to go there on my trip over to the UK this September, but there just isn't going to be enough time. Your pictures remind me of Doc Martin. :-)

I love the idea of being able to rent a boat for a week! It must have been fun to do day trips with them. Were you able to eat the fish the boys caught?

  19. I would give up any blog time necessary if I could travel to such lovely places. Hiring a boat seems perfect, I wouldn't know the first thing about driving a boat around! I'd probably fall out of it n all!! LOL...
Your family is lovely, the boys are so precious, I'm so glad you had time to recollect and have a great summer holiday.
    Have a great weekend,
    Tammy

  23. How wonderful to have a son living in St Ives - a beautiful place to visit. Norfolk too is lovely and along with Suffolk is one of my favourite counties. I think a lot of us have been quiet on the blogging front this summer but are now putting our heads over the parapet again:)

  25. Its amazing how life changes when you buy a camper van. Such a free and easy way to spend your retirement. And how lucky you have been to have such lovely weather this year. My husband has been going on about buying one for some time now, but we have been hanging on until his retirement next February. I think he feels it will be time then to stop towing our touring caravan.
    Your holiday photos are lovely.
Thank you so much for commenting on my last post........xx

  26. It looks like you had great weather during your vacation. Both places look so inviting and it makes it even more so for you when you visit your children and grandchildren, for sure. I miss being close to the sea – there is nothing like it in summer.

  27. Wonderful photos, Patricia, which sum up your excellent reasons for taking a break from blogging. Having just enjoyed a week with our daughter and her family in Normandy, I can well imagine what fun you had. Did you enjoy living in your camper van?

  28. One thing I noticed in most of your photos is the blue sky. It makes everything better doesn't it? That and spending a relaxing time in the company of the people you love the most. There can't be a better way to enjoy a holiday.

  30. Hello Patricia. I noticed you posted a comment on Joy's '5 in 5' post, and said you had visited my blog and been unable to sign up. I'm not sure why. Please let me know if you wanted to link up - it would be lovely to have you join the challenge and to share your photos.
I was excited to see that we live near each other and are fellow campervan owners. We make good use of our camper and love the freedom it gives. I was interested in the magazine you showed in your birthday blog post. I must find a copy if I can, I love making things and these looked great ideas!
