Finding the time

Hello everyone.

This quote sums me up right now - trying to do too many things all at once. Lots of thoughts. lots of ideas. Lots of plans and basically lots of not much being done at all.  My head bursts sometimes with all the things I want  to achieve and at times am like a Whirling Dervish.. Do you find that the more you want to do, the less actually gets done?

So taking things slowly is the order of the day and it's actually beginning to work. I spend so much time thinking about what I'm going to do that it eats into my 'doing' time. Planning is the key I believe and am having fun using my old Filofax again and actually writing up lists and notes rather than using electronic devices for all my hurried thoughts and ideas.

My next project? I've always wanted to write a book - and do you know what - I'm jolly well going to give it a go - given that I can find the time!

Have a great weekend dear friends

  1. It's so nice to see a post from you again, Patricia! I especially love that first quote. I"m so excited for you as you start in on the process of writing a book. Have you thought about joining in with NaNoWriMo? It was the catalyst for me finishing my first book. Highly recommended! The only thing is, you can't actually start writing until November 1.

    1. Thanks Kristie, so nice of you to say. I have heard of NaNoWriMo but don't consider myself to be very accomplished yet. One day maybe. P x

  2. Yay get the Filofax out. Nothing better than actually scribbling out notes, plans and lists.

  5. Dear Patricia, good to be reading you again. A very thought-provoking post. I've been in this quandary for some time - and now diagnosed with adult ADHD I can understand myself a lot better. I'm larding to be much more selective about my enthusiasms and therefore I am a little more organise and a little less rushed and swamped. I even had a mini blog-break as I got myself in a right fizz, but I'm back again now. Writing things down - lists - has ALWAYS been a thing of mine, and they do keep me centred and feeling calm when I can see everything laid out on paper. Even if I don;t get everything ticked off, knowing where I am is a big help.
I'm intrigued about the writing, Patricia - I've always written but now have to wake up to the fact that I know I don;t have the discipline to just sit down and WRITE the darnd thing! All well and good having heat plot ideas, characters mapped out in my head, location descriptions…all there, but there is no getting away fem actually getting down to DOING it! I admire you, and wish you the very best of luck - with the book and with everything else you aspire to! Lxxx

    1. Thank you so much Lynne. I've been enjoying posting pictures on Instagram but it got quite addictive and time consuming plus I missed the circle of friends I'd made on here. Glad you found your way back too. I think a blog break is needed sometimes. Whether the book idea will take off soon or not I don't know but it's always been there in the background. P xxx

  7. Good to see you back here, Patricia - I'd love to write more but now I have the time my brain seems to have taken a holiday. Good luck with your project, if you have the ideas for a book then surely they will grow:)

  8. So happy to see you back in blog land Patricia. It is a wonderful idea to write a book, and I'm sure you will succeed, and enjoy the process. Good luck with it! I love the first quote - that is me - never enough time to do all I'd like, but I do try to be as efficient as possible with my time. Happy Sunday :) xx

  9. Love the quotes Patricia. I too have been on instagram as of late and have taken a break from blogging. Technology can take over our lives if we're not careful! I have so many quilts I want to make, but like you, never seem to get around to many of them! I think I'll follow your lead and start the list! Good luck with the book -go for it!👏

  11. I suspect that I'm not going to live long enough to see and do all the things I want to but I've always been a maker of lists which helps to achieve at least some things. Good luck with your book, beginning any project is probably the hardest part:)

  13. Hello dear Patricia,
I know exactly where you are coming from.
I have just come in from a walk with the dogs, and looking around, realize that some things will just have to be put at one side. Close the chapter on them.
I started writing a book for my family over 12 years ago. I have it all saved.. its not to publish.. its to put together , bind it and history will be there for them all to read about my life, my parents, their great grandparents , and my travels.
Since Manuel passed away, I haven't written anything. I must get down to adding more memories..
i have just titled it.. "Memoirs ".
Go for it Rosemary.. you have wanted to write for a while now.. start. It will lead you somewhere.
Thanks for all your kind comments here and on IG..
I have relaxed a little , as like you cant seem to get round to it all.
    happy days
    val xxxx

    1. Thank you so much Val. Your family book sounds great and it's an idea that I've had mulling around my head. I love family history and as you say it's a lovely way of passing down the story to family (if your's are like mine they're not really into family history right now, but I'm sure one day they will want to know more!) Have a lovely weekend Val and speak again soon. IG is very addictive and I'm having to take some breaks from it otherwise nothing will get done!! P x
