A Christmas poem - From our Happy Home

From our happy home
Through the world we roam
One week in all the year,
Making winter spring
With the joy we bring
For Christmas-tide is here.

Now the eastern star
Shines from afar
To light the poorest home;
Hearts warmer grow,
Gifts feely flow,
For Christmas-tide has come.

Now gay trees rise
Before young eyes.
Abloom with tempting cheer;
Blithe voices sing,
And blithe bells ring,
For Christmas-tide is here.

Oh, happy chime,
Oh, blessed time,
That draws us all so near!
'Welcome, dear day,'
All creatures say,
For Christmas-tide is here.

Louisa May Alcott (1832-88)

  1. Hi Patricia just popped over and joined your blog from another site, frugal in norfolk. I liked the sound of your profile, and the family history group. I am fascinated by genealogy and am tracing my family tree, which I have blogged about too. Any tips gratefully received!

  2. Hi Anne, many thanks for your comment. I was not sure if I should reply from here or not. I did post a reply on your page to thank you. Still trying to get the hang of what to do. Loved your blog too.

  4. Hi Anne. Thanks for your comment. To be honest I didn't realise that I could put posts up under different labels, which may have been better than having two blogs! So I think I may try and combine the two, fingers crossed.
